Did you get a Ninja Creami for Christmas? Lucky you! They are great machines and allow you to make delicious ice cream out of all sorts of things.

The only problem? It's Christmas day, one of the few days of the year when the shops are shut and you can't run down to the store for ingredients to get started! But don't worry, I've got you covered. This super simple three-ingredient Ninja Cream recipe uses ingredients you most likely already have in the house on Christmas Day, so you can get started as soon as possible! Merry Christmas!

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • Simple three ingredient recipe.
    • Use Christmas leftovers and ingredients you already have.
    • Simple recipe you can whip up now, ready to spin on the day after Christmas.

Ninja® CREAMi® is a registered trademark of SharkNinja. This recipe is not sponsored or endorsed by SharkNinja in any way (but hey if you see this I'd Love to talk) however I'm big face of my Ninja Creami and making delicious recipes with it!

    Ingredients

Ingredients: custard, Christmas booze, Christmas chocolates.

Custard: whatever custard you have. If you have extra thick, double thick custard or anything similar to that you will need to thin your custard down before adding it.

Christmas booze: adds some festive cheer. I used Baileys here as we always have some at Christmas, but it should work well with other Christmas booze too.

Christmas chocolates: I used leftover (yes there is such as thing) Ferrero Rocher here but you can use whatever Christmas chocolates you have to hand that match your custard and booze flavors.

How to make Ninja Cream Christmas Ice Cream

See the full recipe card at the end of the post for ingredient amounts and instructions.

First make sure you have room in your freezer for your Ninja Creamy pint. It's important your pint freezes on a flat surface. If it's on an angle you can damage your machine.

Add the custard to the Ninja Creami pint and your choice of Christmas alcohol. Stir well. Put on the lid and freeze for twenty-four hours.

Process shots: adding custard and booze into Ninja pint, mixing. Once frozen, scrapping flat bump in mix with a turned over spoon.

Hot tip: check for the bump! If you pint has frozen with a bump or hump in the middle use a spoon to scrap and flatten the bump before spinning.

Lock your pint into the Ninja Creami machine and spin on ice cream.

Check your ice cream. If it looks a little powdery, kind of like snow texture, drizzle a tablespoon of milk over it, put it back in machine, choose ice cream again and respin.

While the pint is spinning roughly chop your Christmas chocolates. Don't make them too small as they will get further chopped in the machine.

Process shots: chopping chocolates, making a well in center of spun ice cream, adding chopped chocolates, spinning on mix in.

Make a 1 & ½ inch (4cm) hole that reaches halfway down the pint. Add the chopped chocolates, lock the pint back in the machine and press Full then Mix-in.

    How to serve

Serving Ninja Creami Christmas Leftovers ice cream

To serve this delicious festive Ninja Creami scoop into a bowl and enjoy! Or just grab a spoon and dig in straight from the pint! Delicious!

    How to store

In the unlikely event you don't finish the pint make sure you scrap down the sides and flatten the top, then put the lid on the pint and return to the freezer.

It should store well for a month or more in the freezer but best eaten within two weeks for better flavor and texture. If it's too hard when you go to scoop it lock the machine back back into the machine and press respin.

Tips for success and frequently asked questions

I only have festive-flavored custard, will that work?

Yes I have successfully made this with plain, rum and raisin and Baileys flavors as well (look it's a hard life but someone's gotta do it :D).

I don't have any leftover store-bought custard, can I use homemade custard?

I haven't tried this with homemade custard, but yes in theory it should work with homemade custard.

Can I make this with egg nog?

Yes I have successfully made this with egg nog. Egg nog can be a little thin, so you may want to add something to thicken it up a little, such as a spoonfull of instant pudding powder, cream cheese or cottage cheese.

Can I make this without booze?

You sure can. Try replacing the alcohol with some other festive non alcoholic flavors such as gingerbeer or orange juice.

I don't have any leftover Christmas chocolates, can I use something else instead?

Yup, any festive flavors that pair well will work. Try some festive desserts such as gingerbread cookies or perhaps some Christmas cake.

    Notes

    Ingredients:
    Custard:
Extra Thick, Double thick custard or similar is too thick.  If you are using one of these you need to reduce the amount of custard and add milk to thin it down.
    Booze:
Flavor: the amount of Baileys in this recipe gives a great flavor but makes the ice cream quite soft.  For a firmer ice cream you can pop your pint back into the freezer for approx 30mins to firm up before scooping or reduce the amount of Baileys used.
    Other Booze:
Irish Cream such as Baileys has a 17% alcohol volume.  If you are going to use a stronger Christmas alcohol such as Brandy you need to reduce the amount of alcohol by approx. ½ or your ice cream will turn into soup.
