Ingredients

  • 1 packet (7 oz/ 200 gms) small crunchy pretzels
  • 10 oz packet (290 gms) orange chocolate or candy melts
  • ¼ cup green chocolate candy such as M&Ms

Instructions

  • Line a couple of baking trays with parchment paper.
  • Find the whole unbroken pretzels. Put aside the broken pieces to eat later.
  • Melt the chocolate. It's easiest to do this in a microwave-proof bowl in the microwave, for one minuet bursts, stirring as needed until the chocolate is melted. Alternatively you can use a double boiler but be careful not to get any water in the chocolate or it will seize.
  • Working quickly dip each pretzel into the chocolate. It can help to use a skewer to move the pretzels around the chocolate to help coat them and fish them out of the chocolate.
  • Take the chococlate coated pretzel out of the chocolate. Shake off any excess and place it on the parchment paper.
  • Place a green candy at the top of the pretzel to form the stem. Ensure it the stem is pressed into the chocolate or it won't stick properly.
  • If there is a small gap in the chocolate on the pretzel where you held onto it when getting it out of the chocolate you can fill this in with a small blob of chocolate.
  • Repeat until you have formed all your pumpkins.
  • Allow to set on the bench or in the fridge for about an hour, or until chocolate is fully dry.
  • Carefully peel back the baking paper to remove and enjoy!

Notes

Alternative ingredeints:
If you can't get orange chocolate or candy melts you can use white chocolate and oil based food coloring instead.  See my shamrock pretzels post for more details on how to do this.
Store:
In a lined, airtight container for up to three days.
After this they will still be safe to eat but may loose some of their crunch.
