Cranberry Sauce with Grand Marnier

This homemade cranberry sauce with Grand Marnier is tart, tangy and bursting with festive flavors of citrus and spice that will complement any holiday dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 x 12 ounce bags (1.5 lbs or 675 gms total) frozen or fresh cranberries
  • cup (75gms) granulated white sugar
  • 1 & ½ tablespoons clementine or mandarin juice
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • 3 tablespoons Grand Marnier

Instructions
 

  • Defrost: your cranberries if they are frozen. Otherwise wash if fresh.
  • Blitz: the cranberries with an immerson blender, in a deep sided jug.
  • Strain: the blitzed cranberries to remove the seeds and bits.
  • Add: the strained cranberries to a pot on the stove.
  • Juice: and measure the clemintine or mandarin juice.
  • Add: the sugar, all spice, clemintine juice and Grand Marnier to the cranberries.
  • Cook: the cranberries for three to five minutes, untill thickened.
  • Serve: warm or chill to serve later. Delicioius!

Notes

Ingredients:
Cranberries: you can use frozen or fresh cranberries.
Grand Marnier: can be substituted with other similar orange liqueurs such as Cointreau, triple sec or curacao.
Clementine juice will give the best flavor, but can be replaced with mandarine or at a pinch, orange juice.
Make it alcohol-free:
By replacing the Grand Marnier with some extra clementine or mandarin juice.
Serve:
Savory: with meats such as turkey, pork, pot roast or as part of a cheeseboard.
Sweet: with cheesecake, ice cream, pancakes, waffles.
Storage:
In the fridge: for up to two weeks in a covered container.
In the freezer: for up to two months in an airtight container.
