How long can you store fancy ice cream for before it goes bad?

I've had a small tub of Gelato Messina (More on them soon) ice cream in my freezer for about two months now.
I got it at the same time as my strawberries and cream cake and between another family birthday and going away for Christmas some how never got round to eating it.

But how long is to long to store it for?
The Gelato Messina website has lots of info on their ice cream cakes but not so much on their take home ice cream packs. The general consensus seams to be eat ad soon as possible and definitely with in 5 days, after which the texture and possibly taste maybe compromised.

The lychee coconut was still delicious. A little icy on top but otherwise just about as good as the day it was brought.

The cappuccino and tiramisu not so much. Both had an unpleasant grainy texture and definitely didn't taste as good, even when digging into the middle of the tub. You can see here on the tiramisu the large ice crystals that have formed.
So there you have it. Two months is probably to long to store fancy shop brought gelato, best to eat it within a week. Interesting the coconut was fine, I wonder if something about the coconut milk inhibited the formation of ice crystals? Hmmm
NB this post is in no way a reflection on Gelato Messina ice cream. All of these are delicious when fresh from the shop it's just some of them, unsurprisingly, don't keep well in a home freezer for long periods of time.
